Construction Project for a MULTI-FATTENING MODULE OF SERIOLA at the Port of Alicante, Dock 11, "Muelle de Poniente"
Alicante Aquaculture is committed to aquaculture sustainability at the Port of Alicante by developing an ambitious project for the construction of a Seriola Multi-Fattening Module.
This investment project will enable the captive production of this species, ensuring a continuous supply of a product with exceptional flavor, perfect texture, and high nutritional value — achieved through a modern and efficient production process based on environmental sustainability, technological innovation, and food quality and safety.
The process relies on the use of seawater recirculation technology (RAS). This clean, non-polluting technology allows optimal farming conditions to be maintained year-round, promoting faster and more natural fish growth without the use of hormones. It also offers a high level of biosecurity by controlling the sanitary environment and reducing risks compared to open systems.
Moreover, it enables harvest scheduling according to demand while minimizing environmental impact, with minimal discharges and highly purified water. Its efficiency allows production in areas unsuitable for traditional farming, with extremely low water consumption limited to evaporation and maintenance.
The new aquaculture facility will have a production capacity of 600 tons per year, aiming to serve both the domestic and international markets with growing demand. The planned execution amounts to €14,945,242.04, with an eligible investment of €13,767,837.49 and a granted subsidy of €5,999,999.
Execution period: September 2023 to February 2026.
